This marks the return of the WWE in Canada since the Chris Benoit murder-suicide that shocked the wrestling world last year. It has been a long wait for Canadian wrestling fans, which are known be particular. Booing “Faces”, cheering “Heels”, it’s “Bizzaro World” as Jerry The King Lawler would call it.
And we love it that way! As a fan attending one of the House Shows this weekend, I have 3 words for the WWE… JUST BRING IT!. NEW YORK (Reuters) - Citigroup Inc (C.N) plans to sell Nikko Asset Management Co separately, not bundled with Nikko Cordial Securities Inc as previously speculated, the Nikkei financial daily reported. Deals | JapanNikkei reported that initial bidding is expected to take place on May 1. The report said without citing sources that, of more than 10 potential Japanese and foreign bidders that Citibank has approached, Nomura Holdings Inc (8604.T) is among those that appear particularly interested in Nikko Asset.According to the report, many financial institutions with deep enough pockets are expected to join the bidding, estimated to reach about 100 billion yen. The report said Nikko Asset has about 9 trillion yen in assets under management. The report said that Citi planned to get the group of potential buyers down to several firms, then hold a second round of bidding, aiming to make a final selection by summer.(Editing by Jim Marshall) Deals Japan. The Cleveland Indians took a 1-0 lead into the ninth inning, gave up a run, went behind a run in the tenth, tied the game in the bottom of the tenth, and finally won it the eleventh inning in a nail-biting 3-2 over Seattle. The Tribe took two out of three in the series with the win. Paul Byrd went seven and two-thirds innings for the Indians, giving up four hits, striking out four and walking one while not allowing a run. He left with a 1-0 lead. Rafael Perez came on and Bloomquist was caught stealing from first, getting the Indians out of the eighth and ending the night for Perez. That set the stage for Rafael Betancourt to close out the game. Unfortunately, Betancourt has been leaving the door open for a Joe Borowski back-to-closer return. Ryan Garko singled with one out, and Jamey Carroll came in as a pinch runner.
Scott Woodward is pulling out of consideration for the AD job at Washington choosing to concentrate on his job as VP of External Affairs.Bob Condotta of the Times is following the story and he found the comment below interesting. If you have been following the UW athletic department for the last decade the comments sure ring true.An interesting comment Scott Woodward made today in his announcement that he would not pursue the AD job permanently is that he worried there was maybe an "acceptance of mediocrity'' in the department.I guess the question everyone is asking is what kind of AD will UW eventually hire? Will it be Todd Turner II with better PR skills, or will it be someone driven to win?. PRETORIA (Reuters) - South Africa's ruling ANC won a sweeping election victory Saturday and party leader Jacob Zuma pledged that as president he would work with unions and business to ensure stability amid global turmoil. World"There will be no surprises in the next administration's program of action," Zuma said in a victory speech."The electorate has endorsed our call for an equitable, sustainable and inclusive growth path that will bring decent work and sustainable livelihoods," Zuma, who is due to be sworn in as president on May 9, said.Official results of Wednesday's election gave Zuma's African National Congress 65.9 percent of the vote, a big victory but just short of the two-thirds needed to ensure a parliamentary majority big enough to make constitutional changes unchallenged. The margin that would let the ANC change the constitution is largely symbolic. Despite some market concerns over whether the ANC would get the two-thirds majority, the party repeatedly has stressed it has no intention of changing the constitution.Although a newly formed party of ANC dissidents failed to make a dramatic impact, the ruling party has seen its share of the vote fall for the first time since the end of apartheid in 1994. We will work with all stakeholders, especially business and labor, to find ways to prevent and cushion our people against job losses and other difficulties that may arise," he said.Zuma, who said he was not disappointed that the ANC did not achieve a two-thirds majority, also called on South Africans to get over the divisions of the past."It is now time to put it all behind us. The Congress of the People (COPE), formed by politicians who broke from the ruling party, stood at 7.42 percent. The DA will get 67 seats in parliament and COPE 30.Inkatha Freedom Party support waned to 4.56 percent, giving it 18 parliamentary seats, of the vote from 6.97 percent in 2004.
